Rapper/producer Jackson Whalan drops the second single leading up to his to his next album, ‘Millennial Sound’. “Sweet Music” features Jules Jenssen : drummer, producer, visionary, and hometown friend of Jackson. The two have been collaborating since their early teens, growing up in Berkshire County, MA in a crew of young music heads. They co-produced and wrote this track together, which effectively adds to their growing saga of collaborations, like “Home Again” , and “Souled Out…” . There is distinct a sample-based vibe that weaves through all of the hip-hop they have made with each other so far, and its presence is recognized once again in “Sweet Music…”, a song about a character longing for love, yet being on the road and whole-heartedly committed to music and touring. “I Always Wanted to Be In The Band” by Step by Step lays the foundation for this subject matter to percolate, with a call-and-response from the mcee to the sample in the chorus. Jackson draws from his own experience of being “torn in two”, and the process of coming to terms with music being the top priority, a reality that is accompanied by sacrifice and being apart from the one he loves. Inspired by the most classic of hip-hop, with live drums that slap, and verses that churn memories, peep “Sweet Music (feat. Jules Jenssen)”.
Jackson releases his new album, Millennial Sound, on May 18th, 2018.
