Rapper/producer Jackson Whalan drops the second single leading up to his to his next album, ‘Millennial Sound’. “Sweet Music” features Jules Jenssen : drummer, producer, visionary, and hometown friend of Jackson. The two have been collaborating since their early teens, growing up in Berkshire County, MA in a crew of young music heads. They co-produced and wrote this track together, which effectively adds to their growing saga of collaborations, like “Home Again” , and “Souled Out…” . There is distinct a sample-based vibe that weaves through all of the hip-hop they have made with each other so far, and its presence is recognized once again in “Sweet Music…”, a song about a character longing for love, yet being on the road and whole-heartedly committed to music and touring. “I Always Wanted to Be In The Band” by Step by Step lays the foundation for this subject matter to percolate, with a call-and-response from the mcee to the sample in the chorus. Jackson draws from his own experience of being “torn in two”, and the process of coming to terms with music being the top priority, a reality that is accompanied by sacrifice and being apart from the one he loves. Inspired by the most classic of hip-hop, with live drums that slap, and verses that churn memories, peep “Sweet Music (feat. Jules Jenssen)”.

Jackson releases his new album, Millennial Sound, on May 18th, 2018.

MeRCY – Creepy Crawlers ft see francis & KoJazz • Word Is Bond

It’s week 6 ofMeRCY’s new music campaign, The Everglades Sessions. When it comes to fiery of bars, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better lyricist or as good these days. MeRCY has been murdering melodies, hacking up hooks and beating the life out of bass lines for years. So it’s only right he continues to catch bodies, led by the insane chorus from see.francis and KoJazz on “Creepy Crawlers”. Meanwhile, Solidified’s beat sounds like something creepy straight out of the Halloween soundtrack. Definitely an iLLustrious affair on this joint.

MeRCY introduces "Swamp Thing" for the 5th edition of "The Everglades Sessions " • Word Is Bond

MeRCY returns with the 5th installment of The Everglades Sessions by introducing the ‘Swamp Thing’ record itself. The introduction is atmospheric and the lyrics are those of the Everglades renegade as MeRCY portrays throughout the track. This is just a preview for what’s to come.

On the musical side, Solidified provides the perfect mood for this record. Thus, the producer perfectly maintains the high performance he did on the first few records. The sound is dark and grimey like the hot nights of the marshland from Florida state.

By teckzilla Word Is Bond

“Alligator Slippers” is the 3rd release off MeRCY’s Wednesday series The Everglades Sessions. On the track, MeRCY’s voice over the bouncy TEK.LUN-produced instrumental lifts us out of one of the series pimpish moments. The song go by addressing the challenges faced by his own community, being free spirited as well as pointing towards the ability to rise and have fun from the most desperate times. Something new and refreshing from Broward’s southern fried lyricist.

MeRCY breaks through the mold with "Tropical Storm" • Word Is Bond

“Tropical Storm” is the 2nd release from MeRCY’s eponymous series ‘The Everglades Sessions’. The heavily influenced reggae song was sonically produced by Solidified. This is where Puerto Rico meets Jamaica. It got a classic dancehall vibe that helps MeRCY blend his version of the Jamaican genre with undertones of adult contemporary. Along with vintage adlibs from reggae legends (Lady Saw, Bounty Killer, etc), MeRCY’s straight-down-the-middle delivery makes this record easily consumed and endlessly repeatable—intoxicating, like a shot of Wray & Nephew of a certain tropical flavor.
