Theclectik‘s “Analog Heart in a Digital World” is a concept touching on the complexity of technology being our ally and foe at the same time. Theclectik comes armed with veteran MC’s Abstract Rude and Myka 9 to spill their perspectives of having an Analog Heart in such a Digital World. Abstract Rude and Myka 9 of Project Blowed and the Good Life Cafe movement has intertwined their pen skills by intertwining the pros and cons of our technological advancements.
Theclectik started production with a bluesy guitar riff and then hammered out a pulsating back beat, followed by sweeping electronic textures and droning bass hits. Truly a blend of Analog and Digital with lyrics that provide a take on remaining genuine while coping with a disingenuous society. Get it on Spotify
The grandgood collective wasn’t sure what to expect, as we rolled up to a random house in Red Hook, Brooklyn, NY. Our combined ten minutes of research, which consisted of reading Facebook posts, indicated that this house was where Myka 9, Medusa, and JTheSarge would be rocking that night.
It wasn’t the typical “venue” that we were accustomed to. There were no lines outside. There were no signs or banners. There was literally zero human activity on the block, which made it seem like Jason and his hockey mask would turn the corner at any minute. Should we run back in the car and speed off? Were we being Punk’d? Is this the night we would get got?
As slow as possible, we stepped towards the door and either rang the bell or knocked. I’m not sure. Someone answered and, thankfully, the inside of this house looked more familiar. Music playing. People chatting it up with a drink in their hand. And Myka 9 chilling in the backyard while JTheSarge was manning the barbecue grill. Yup, your typical show.
Needless to say, we were glad to not punk out. Although it felt like 100+ degrees in there, Myka 9, Medusa, and JTheSarge killed it. And yes, the footage was super grainy because it was super dark in there, but I had to share because the performance was super dope.
