TOP 5 SUBMISSIONS For Week 2 July • Word Is Bond

We are still dedicated to showcasing the best tracks/videos from the underground by searching far and wide in order to bring you our weekly list. It’s a tough job as we sift through a ton of high-quality tracks just to settle for just 5. Now that is what we call dedication, so sit back relax and get familiar with these acts.
Remember, don’t forget to support them by sharing their works.

NOTE: This will be the last Top 5 Submissions as the segment has been upgraded to 10 tracks starting from next week. This is to cover more talented acts out there.

Jai Nitai Lotus launches his latest video “Wu Baby”, off his recently released album “Affirmations” (album available here). The song is a shout-out to a Higher Power–which is rich in love, and greater than any man-made fear, division or fanaticism. The images portray the vastness of nature in contrast to human structure.

Producer Radicule flips a Killa Cam acapella into something beautiful on his new record titled “Gettin’ $$$”. He fused what he calls glossy lo-fi elements against shimmering chords from keyboardist Miki Howard and the result is pure dopeness.

Producer/rapper Illgod goes retrospective on his new release “Show You Something”. It is an unofficial remix to Boogey’s “Show You Something”; produced by Black Intelligence.

Feelø teams up with Harman for his newest record titled “Adios”. A Latin-tinged, love-laden groovy cut.

Straight out of Indonesia comes rising rapper Ramengvrl who wraps up the top 5 sub with an upbeat swagged out single titled “Ca$hmere”. She adds some insight into the creation of the song below

I wanted to make a feel-good type song, just brag about yourself but with attitude. I feel like these days people got money but don’t really know how to flex and maintain their flex. Like ok you got cash but don’t be stupid, why you cop those Yeezy’s but don’t spare money for your basic needs? Something like that. ”

She started off not even liking hip-hop until listening to Kanye West, then ventured into Tyler the Creator, Charli XCX and M.I.A. territory where you can see the influences clearly in her music. Kind of pop, kind of rap, totally badass. Ramengvrl is trying to break into new markets, leaving a blazing trail behind her all the way back to Jakarta.

Top 5 Instrumental Submissions for 2nd Week February • Word Is Bond

For the 2nd week of February, we got a batch of solid beat submissions that y’all would definitely love to listen to. This might just be the great place for rappers to connect with producers as well. Sit back ,relax and get familiar.

This track is like an Adult Swim bump blended with a Jazz Fusion band recording session. Soundsmith is a beat-maker influenced by older cats such as  Nujabes and Dilla as well as newer acts like Eve and Borealism. GetWellSoon is the final track from his first project, Out of Order EP It’s influenced by jazz fusion, psychedelic rock and boom bap hip-hop.

Producer Skai Lounge taps into a deep region to bring forth this sombre, mellow head nodding beat he calls “Sanctuary”. The beat is based off the concept of escapism. An avenue to escape the pressures of reality into an imaginary place of refuge.

ST  taps into the old school boom bap and new age trap elements on his new effort titled “My Life So Enlightened”. Using a lo fi piano sample and heavy drums, he brings that retro feel back to the forefront.

Radicule delivers an engulfing adult swim-style record he calls “Oasis”. A blend of lo fi elements laced with melodic trap sounds. He calls it an euphoric trip into the depths of the Sahara, harmonic voices call out from a distance, leading the soul to paradise

POLR, digitally portrayed as a giant polar bear with an MPC and a polaroid camera comes through with a solid one he calls “First Light”. This young producer, real name Micah Von, got his start doing a remix for indie pop artist Vian Izak. The remix was noticed by Spotify Germany who put it on their chill bass playlist.

Slimzkidmusic delivers a head nodding fun track on this one. This has that UK afro-wave flavor in it.
