Cayoz hails from Oceanside, California and is not be confused with the Canadian emcee K-os, although both rappers pronounce their name “Chaos.”
If you are a regular listener of this show, you will have heard this man before. He makes great songs and even has a few Canadian connections. It was nice to finally kick it with him and talk about music and life.

Alex Kuchma, called in to Word is Bond Rap Radio to talk about all things hip-hop. He even brought in some music that you might not have heard before.
He is writing a book of the rich history we have in this country when it comes to hip-hop music and culture.
Kuchma is tackling this subject with passion and has already interviewed dozens of rap musicians who were active in the 1990s. He is going to the source to collect hard to find albums, singles, mixtapes, and stories.
He would love to hear from you, if you had anything to do in the Canadian hip-hop scene and can be contacted via email or Twitter.
Canada has a rich hip-hop history and it is great to see it being celebrated in such a big way.

We start out the show with 30 minutes of great Lee Reed music, and then talk to the man himself in this special edition of Word is Bond Rap Radio.
Lee Reed is an amazing artist and veteran of the Hamilton music scene. Right now, he is fighting a battle against an unfair system that threatens to displace people from the homes. You can support the rent strike efforts by copping his new EP from Bandcamp.

Branded Moore was the special guest on Word is Bond Rap Radio last week. He took over the program to promote the release of “Low Fidelity Broadcast,” a project he did with DJ Over.
We played some tunes from the new project, premiered a few tracks from the vaults that have never been heard before, talked to a live caller, and had an in-depth discussion about all things hip-hop.
Branded Moore has an incredible stage presence and energy and puts on one of the best live shows you will ever see. Do yourself a favour and catch him in concert if you get the chance.
“Low Fidelity Broadcast” is out now wherever you get your music.

This is Episode 78 of Know Your History and features music by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5, an interview with the first hip-hop promoter (it isn’t who you think) and a song by Akala that gets us thinking about how far back this genre of music actually goes.
You can stream or download the clean or explicit version of the show below for free.
One of the lyrics in a song we played this week says, “Every show needs a DJ” and we couldn’t agree more. That’s why you get two hours of music mixed live by our very own Chase March on the radio every week here on Word is Bond Rap Radio. So please hire a DJ if you are putting on a rap concert. You need one!
Show some love to the DJ. When you are at a show and snapping pictures, make sure to get one of the DJ. If you are an MC, thank the DJ, by name, during your set. Hip-hop started with a DJ. Let’s remember and honour that.
Enjoy the show!

I know someone who called our college radio station, “Radio Roulette – you never know what you are going to get.” It’s an apt description of what we do at Radio Western.
Last week, I had a listener text in to the station who had been listening to the station for 24 hours straight. She told me that she enjoyed the first part of the show but had to turn the station off when the music got too explicit for her (both in message and language content)
I still feel bad about chasing away a listener. I like to play positive hip-hop but every now and then I play some offensive stuff. It’s the nature of the genre.
Did I go too far this week? Was it too much? What do you think?

The start of the podcast today isn’t the start of the show. It starts at 3:55. I normally edit this out of the podcast version. Oops, sorry!
Daddy J of DOPEfm came through the Word is Bond Studios in London, Ontario to co-host the show last week. He has been putting it down in underground hip-hop radio for 20 years now. In fact, I got my start in radio on his program, which is still going strong Saturday nights on 93.3. CFMU.
This was a fun show. Press play an enjoy the podcast!
