Sareem Poems & Ess Be “Dance for the Dead”

Dance for the Dead by Sareem Poems and Ess Be

Sareem Poems & Ess Be are working on a new album and Dance for the Dead is the first single.

Sareem shares, “Dance for the Dead is an upbeat single that I begin writing over the summer of 2017. It’s about reflection & celebration of those who battled in the past. So we could have the freedom’s we enjoy now in the present. There is still much work to be done when it comes to equality. The current state of the world is a mess. However, to remember that it was worse than it is today, to remember people fought & died for what’s available to us now, is to stand tall and proud.

He continues, “When I say “Hallelujah” I mean it as an expression of rejoicing. When I say “Amen” I mean the assertion of hearty approval. When I say “Devils” I mean someone or something evil, hurtful or wicked. When I say “Church” I mean a specific group of Believers, not a building.

I’m grateful for my fellow dreamer & change seeker Ess Be (collaborator and sole producer of our upcoming project Mind Over Matter). His production made this song & new album a reality. We didn’t plan to have “Dance For The Dead” ready for “Black History Month” but we’re honored to be able to present it to you just the same. Enjoy and as always thank you for your support.

Ozay Moore and Stro Elliot collab on Good single

The Good single is the first drop from Ozay Moore’s In the Wake of O album (Illect Recordings). Production by Stro Elliot of The Roots.

There’s a fine line between desire and discontent, it’s common to confuse the two, the thirst for more ain’t ever quenched.”

That is unless it is tempered with gratitude and a value system and associated with achieving status and/or the acquisition of things. I am working on resisting urges. Especially those that don’t support through this I’ve accepted in my life. To live simple, to live honest, to live reverent of God, to live sacrificial, to live mindful and healthy… to me this is “good”. And all realness though, it is a process and requires a great deal of self examination. Good is a proclamation of what I know to be true and serves as a reminder in times where my priorities are in order. I strive to prioritize God, family, and community in that sequence. Hopefully somewhere in there I can give the people Good music.

Stream: Tee-Wyla – Journey beat tape

The Journey beat tape from Tee-Wyla dropped today via Illect Recordings. It’s a must listen and takes on a few twists and turns.

Tee-Wyla and Illect Recordings are excited to share an 11 track instrumental hip-hop “Journey” with you. It’s recommended for fans of beat tapes and producers like J. Dilla, Freddie Joachim, L’Orange, Mndsgn, Thes One, Birocratic and others.

About Tee-Wyla

Joshua Toala (pka Tee-Wyla), has composed numerous works for television, and commercials, many of which have been found on prime time programs for networks such as NBC,CBS, ABC, ESPN, VH1, BET, MTV, Radio 1 programming, and other major cable networks. Since 2002, Joshua has regularly accepted commissions for and scored music for independent film, and production companies, landing him frequent submissions for sitcoms, and database work with creative services for Viacom. While he has never formally studied music composition, he credits his curiosity and for all music and his love for God as being pivotal to his success as a composer and music producer. His most notable works include music appearing throughout the NBA Finals, The 2016 Olympics, UEFA CUP, World Cup, and several BET Award shows.

In addition to his successful licensing career, Joshua spends his time working as a hip-hop producer / instrumentalist under the name Tee-Wyla, releasing several instrumental projects, and is always finding ways to collaborate with other artists in every genre. His musical style varies from acoustic music, to classical string arrangements, interactive-sound installations, and literally everything in between, and while his musical influences are deeply rooted in electronic music, he utilizes non-traditional techniques and processes to compose works that don’t squarely align with any single genre or style, creating hybrid sounds incorporating, bluegrass, rock, folk, and technology.

Imperial “Know the Call (ft. Sareem Poems & Sojourn)”

Illect Recordings starts off their 2018 release schedule with an absolute banger, Know the Call. We’re excited to offer this single as a premiere!

Know the Call is produced by Imperial and features bars from Sareem Poems and Sojourn.

Crusty drums and classic raps, what more do you need? Sareem Poems and Sojourn took this beat right back to Sedgwick Avenue and knocked it out the park. It was amazing to work with the 2 veteran emcees as they brought the real rawness and added the sauce over the beat.

This single drops Friday January 12th via Illect Recordings.

Armond WakeUp releases video for “The Hold”

“The Hold” is the lead single from Armond WakeUp’s 40 Days EP, available now via Illect Recordings.

The track features production by Wes Pendleton and the visual was directed by Armond himself.

Armond shares, “The Hold is a special record to me because it captures a question that God consistently asks me…”what are you holding onto?” It could be a mindset, a person, a fear, anything. And we build these walls with ways that we think and cement them with how we feel. We think those things keep hurt and pain out, and they do. But they also keep any sort of healing and restoration from getting in.

This is the first time I’ve directed and edited a music video, so this was new. Often when I create, I see what I wanna hear, so bringing this to life was an amazing experience. Shoutout every photographer, videographer, and director because they have an eye from God. It’s incredible.

The 40 Days EP cements why Armond WakeUp is one of our favorite artists.

Sareem Poems & Terem release “Easy” single

Sareem Poems and Terem are back with a new collaboration, Easy. We hope this is the lead in to another album from the duo.

When you’re a kid, it was always cool to be the tough guy when playing with action figures & superheroes.

When you’re grown, you realize how difficult it is to be a nice guy, easy going, and a peaceful person.

The verses communicate wanting to be the tough guy, a brawler, and having a quick temper… how will you deal with those situations as an adult? Ease up. Fall back. You ain’t gotta act like that. Picking peace is the best choice in my eyes. Pick peace homie!

Sivion & Krum collab on “Really His” single

Really His is the final single leading into Sivion’s Dark Side of the Cocoon release via Illect Recordings.

Sivion shared a little about the creative process and the songs meaning with us.

Sebastian Hochstein really captured a type of hip hop/reggae/dance-hall fusion on the production for this song. And I wanted to further emphasize that vibe in the way I wrote the chorus. But before that happened I realized this would be a great opportunity to enlist the talents of fellow Deepspace5er, Krum (formerly Playdough), for this feature.

I love how the song turned out. It’s an anthem of sorts to unite all of us as God’s children, whether we know it or not. We all have different perspectives, wants, desires, and needs…….with different thoughts on our true identities and what defines us. But if God truly created us, then when it’s all said and done we’re REALLY HIS, whether we embrace that or not.

Sivion announces “Dark Side of the Cocoon”

Sivion and Illect Recordings announce the upcoming release Dark Side of the Cocoon.

Sivion’s Dark Side Of The Cocoon is a record about struggle, uncertainty, failure, pain, and redemption. The overarching theme is “love” as seen through the lens of growth and patience developed from adversity and challenge. Sivion delivers passionate words with soulful melodies to the organic, fluid, and emotionally-charged music compositions of German beat-smith, Sebastian Hochstein of the crew, Scribbling Idiots. What results, is a heartfelt collection of works that display transparency at a level not previously seen by Sivion. The door is open, waiting for you to accept the invitation to come in.

Though the butterfly lives a life of absolute freedom and beauty, the caterpillar enters the darkness of the cocoon faithfully holding onto the hope of attaining this same freedom. And so, each of us must enter the darkness of our own cocoon…,” Sivion shares.
