Da Flyy Hooligan drops visuals for Velvet Cake • Word Is Bond

After dropping the visuals for his afrocentric themed song “Asantihini “, the Da Flyy Hooligan is back with another jawn for the streets. Something off the hook which he calls “Velvet cake” which is  taken from his “F.Y.L.P.M.” EP released earlier this year.

Produced by NCL TM, the beat blasts out a cacophony of brass and soul samples over which DFH gets creative delivering trademark dexterous wordplay and high calibre rhyme schemes. On the track title he simply states “When you’ve had the best red velvet cake from Lords Bakery in Flatbush, Brooklyn, you’ll understand why I named this jawn – definitions of deliciousness“.

Directed by The Ol’ Cyruss in London, the theme of the video is an ode to Ghostface Killah’s “Supreme Clientele” album cover, employing imagery as a pastiche of retro cinema and film noir.

Da Flyy Hooligan’s new album “S.C.U.M.” featuring Westside Gunn and Hus Kingpin releases worldwide on CD and digital formats through Miami label 22 Entertainment on October 27th.

Producer 14k and emcee Ro Spit team up for a joint project titled “RSXGLD”. As they prepare for said project, the Detroit duo gift us with the debut single/video “I Believe” , a mid tempo cinematic jam that is groovy and yet thought provoking.

The visuals for “I Believe” is presented in two different halves, the first half covers Ro Spit in a distraught state of mind after a robbery gone wrong-with his partner KT biting the proverbial bullet. Shot in black and white, Ro attempts to clear his mind but the earlier events continue to dog him. The second half switches to a whole different mood as the color returns and Ro feels spirited enough to ignore the past events.

TheKnuBlack “The Kids That Can” (video) Sphere of Hip-Hop

We’re excited to premiere “The Kids That Can” music video from hip-hop duo TheKnuBlack.

The group shared with us what inspired them to create the track:

The song was inspired by a feeling of being boxed in from the conversations concerning music and art. At the time we wrote it, many artists were wrestling with their identity concerning what genre or sub-genre they will be a part of. From our observations, oftentimes choosing one takes the form of rejecting another. We decided to side-step that conversation by saying we can do what we want. We can “fly with the eagles and still dance with the penguins” in the words of Knu or “we are Tritan, Neptune AND Poseidon, all in one” in the words of Sade. At the end of the day our gifts are God-given so all our choices should be God-honoring. But the funny thing is that exactly at the point that we desire to honor God is the same point that the possibilities become limitless and we find ourselves saying “we are the kids that can” do all things.

Eshon Burgundy drops Nothing Above You video

Eshon Burgundy releases Nothing Above You video, the first single from his upcoming For the Love of Money EP.

“Nothing Above You” was written to pay homage to God’s faithfulness. In the song Eshon Burgundy expresses how much he respects God, so much so that he can’t put anything above Him. Even Eshon’s personal desires are no match for the position God holds in his life. To create “Nothing Above You”, Eshon linked up with California based producer Carnegie who also produced a song called “Smoke and Fire” on his recent Billboard charting album The Passover.
